TWO TV STATIONS IN TVI MAGAZINES WEEKLY MEDIA
PROFILE PICTORIAL
SECTION.
-----
NBC's Conan Nolan
Frequently on the "special interest" scene, works
easily with interviewees. He does his home work and
seems to have real interests in assignments covered
from my perspective and observations.
-----
His most notable Genesis
mission insight/quote, when I was talking to him
about the Genesis $260 million cost, was "You might
think of the Genesis cost as a quarter mile of
freeway."

the press conference.
-----
CBS reporter Angela Chee
and cameraman with John Deer that in the two shot
in front of JPL center entrance. The small three
person crew, (no image of sound man in van) was the
only major local network to cover Genesis from
dawn. Angela and her cameraman enjoy covering JPL
missions inspite of getting up at 3 to 4 a.m. Both
are hard workers, professional and obviously enjoy
their work to produce timely, clear, concise
reporting with an international flair. Angela is
starting her broadcast career but has already
worked in China before returning to the West Coast.
As China
develops it's space program, are there any future
special assignments for Angela back in China?
JPL GENESIS
MISSION PERSON OF THE WEEK
-----
In my carefully considered opinion, the
following people reflect the hard work and
disappointments and ending of the Genesis Mission.
TVInews, should award any of the hard working
reporters mentioned in this news special, including
our own Gary Sunkin, as well as Dr. Elachi. Dr.
Elachi stands and speaks rock solid about the
difficulty, risks and rewards of all space
missions. "What we do is not easy," "Things can and
do go wrong," "We learn from these problems as we
move forward," "It's the nature of exploration."
-----
Persons of the week could include all the
members of the mission team who achieved a 99%
successful mission until 21 miles above earth when
the Drogue parachute deployment failed to occur. At
4 miles high the main Parafoil deployment didn't
happen but mission's craft held up fairly well
after a 193 mph impact in the Uath desert. If
something breaks over the weekend I'll e-mail my
thoughts. Right now the team is quite disappointed
and I believe they will be more accessible after
the condition of the capsule contents is better
understood (soon) and the reasons for deployment
failure (much later--weeks or months).
Conan Nolan,
NBC
-----Conan
Nolan is a general assignment reporter for NBC4's
"Channel 4 News." Since joining the station in July
1986, he has covered numerous stories of local and
national importance.
-----
In 2003, Nolan spent two months in Kuwait
and Iraq covering "Operation Iraqi Freedom" for
NBC4 and NBC News. Earlier he was in Beirut,
Lebanon reporting on the Arab world's view of the
September 11 anniversary.
-----
Nolan won a local area Emmy award for
reports from the Pakistani frontier on the U.S. led
campaign to defeat the Taliban in Afghanistan. He
was in Rome for the crisis in the American Catholic
Church, and Mexico City covering the Pope's visit
to that country.
-----Nolan
received a Golden Mike Award for a special report
he did on the tiny South Pacific Island of Tuvalu
which claims to be sinking due to global warming.
-----
From Columbine to the "Unabomber" to driving
in front of O.J. Simpson during LA's most famous
freeway chase, Nolan has had a front row seat for
some of the most important stories of the past 20
years. He was also a main reporter during the 1989
Loma Prieta earthquake.
-----Prior
to joining NBC4, he was a general assignment
reporter at KSBW-TV, the NBC affiliate in Salinas,
California. In 1981 Nolan worked as a news reporter
and weekend sports anchor for KSBY-TV in San Luis

-----Nolan
has a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science
from the University of California - Davis. He grew
up on a ranch in Los Osos Valley along California's

WIRELESS TELEPHONE,
RADIO/TELEVISION / InterNET Broadband Puzzle is
Solved!
-----
The internet is here to
stay. Good for the consumer! Today's
Puzzle: What's
Piracy? Who Really Pays the Performers? Hollywood
critics say that old worldwide movies and TV shows
exceed over one million units -- and recycled
movies and TV shows are said to glut the worlds
vaults with over two million units. Hollywood
mischaracterizes legal behavior, as one who
interferes with the mechanics of Supply and Demand!
