Biography
-----
"I
was the eldest of nine children", said Bob, during
a recent interview with Josie Cory, publisher of
TVI magazine. "I was born in East Texas, just a hop
and a jump from where Bob Wills and the Texas
Playboys started, in the town of Farro". "My
birthplace", continued Bob -- "was actually
seven miles from Fort Worth, in a little town
called Donie".
Both
the careers of Bob Sr. and Jr. started in Fort
Worth, Texas and both followed similar paths, and
that's where it will all ended, in
Texas.
-----Bob
owned night clubs in Mexia, Ft Worth, TX and
Arizona. You'll find clubs Bob opened, like the
Longhorn and Danceland, still exist today in the Ft
Worth Stockyards.
-----Bob
retired as a Lt. Col. from the Air Force on March
27, 1954. In the same year, Bob retired from
professional boxing, where he fought 44
professional fights and won 42 of them. He
was the Northwestern States Heavy Weight Champion
and ranked #9 in the world of contenders for the
world title. He then focused his attentions
on music full time, as music was in his
blood. He has been playing since the young
age of seven years
old.
-----Bob
started acting in 1947, on the first made for TV
pilot, The Joe Pallooka Series. He moved back
to Dallas, TX but due to many offers he received
from Hollywood, Bob moved back to Hollywood in
1968, where he still lives today. Bob still
has an active career in both movies and music.
-----His
most recent accomplishments include two re-mastered
and re-mixed CD's from his original "Western
Playboys" albums, done nearly 20 years
ago.
