- Forbes
list. 2009 Top Ten Winners: to make Forbes
list.
No. 1: Microsoft's founder Bill Gates
lost $18 billion. His net worth dived to $40
billion from $58 billion a year earlier. Despite
decline he reclaimed the title of worlds' richest
man, because two other billionaires lost more, on
paper, than Gates did.
No. 2: Warren Buffett, last year's No.
1, saw his fortune decline $25 billion as
shares of Berkshire Hathaway fell nearly 50% in 12
months, but he still managed to slip just one spot
to No. 2. His net worth plunged to $37 billion from
$62 billion.
No. 3: Carlos Slim Helú - Mexican
business magnate and telecom titan also lost
$25 billion and dropped one spot to No. 3, with a
wealth of $35 billion down from $60 billion.
No. 4: Lawrence Ellison, U.S. software giant
Oracle Corp., $22.5 billion
No. 5: Ingvar Kamprad, Swedish retailer IKEA, $22
billion
No. 6: Karl Albrecht, German supermarket giant
Aldi, $21 billion
No. 7: Mukesh Ambani, Indian petrochemicals, $19.5
billion.
No. 9: Theo Albrecht, German supermarket giant Aldi
and the Monrovia-based Trader Joe's chain in the
U.S., $18.8 billion
No. 10: Amancio Ortega, Spanish retailing $18.3
billion.
In 2009 --
There were just 793 people rich enough to make
Forbes list.
The richest people in the world have
endured a financial disaster over the past years
and gotten poorer, just like the rest of us. The
meltdown of global financial markets slashed the
ranks of the world's billionaires by 30% in 2008,
Forbes magazine reports in its annual list of the
planet's richest people. "The world has become a
wealth wasteland," Forbes states in the billionaire
report on its website. " This year the world's
billionaires have an average net worth of $3
billion, down 23% in 12 months.
The
biggest loser in the world this year, by dollars,
was last year's biggest gainer. India's Anil Ambani
lost $32 billion--76% of his fortune--as shares of
his Reliance Communications, Reliance Power and
Reliance Capital all collapsed.
Ambani is one of 24 Indian billionaires, all
but one of whom are poorer than a year ago. Another
29 Indians lost their billionaire status entirely
as India's stock market tumbled 44% in the past
year and the Indian rupee depreciated 18% against
the dollar. It is no longer the top spot in Asia
for billionaires, ceding that title to China, which
has 28.
Overall, the number of the world's
billionaires fell to 793 from 1,125 a year ago.
Their collective net worth: $2.4 million, a drop of
$2 trillion.
However, there's good news, of sorts, for
the U.S.: "Americans account for 44% of the money
and 45% of the list's slots," according to
Forbes.
After Gates, Buffet, Slim, etc., here's how the
list of the 10 richest people rounds out (name,
source of wealth and 2008 net worth): CLICK FOR

conceived by bondholders, allow investors to buy
protection against a company defaulting. As the
market expanded, speculators started using them to
bet on a company's creditworthiness. The contracts
pay the holder face value for the underlying
securities or the cash equivalent should a company
fail to repay its debt.
Though it grew a hundredfold in the last seven
years, total outstanding contracts in
credit-default swaps are dwarfed by other
derivative markets, including those that bet on
interest rates. Those markets had contracts linked
to about $465 trillion as of June 30, the

AT&T
Forced To Buy Verizon
WiTEL $2.3
Billion Dollars.
NBS WiTel announced during the Hollywood
Digital that AT&T was being forced to purchase
Verizon WiTEL assets, because Verizon's Alltel
phone system was incompatible with the at&t's
WiTEL network.
On May 9th 2009 the LATimes, (Associated
Press) confirmed the $2.35-billion assignment deal
-- that will affect 1.5 million WiTEL subscribers
in 79 franchises, in 18 states, including
California.
The areas are mainly within the
Verizon-Alltel, Sprint-Clearwire deal completed and
approved
by the FCC last year. Most of the
Alltel territories overlaped and competed with
Verizon's more well-known faster WiMax187
connections. They also include some Verizon
territories and areas covered by Rural Cellular,
another carrier that Verizon bought last year.
Troy Cory-Stubblefield of NBS WiTEL, and
ePublisher of TVInews, stated to Yahools Lucas Mast
during an interview on May 6th, that, "it appears
that Verizon Wireless, one of NBS WiTEL potentials,
was forced to sell its NBS WiMax187,
to satisfy FCC regulatory
conditions of several WiTEL deals Verizon made last
year by and between Alltel, and
Sprint-Clearwire."

Las Vegas -- Jockey
Club-MGM CityCenter Deal Saved By Bell. Jockey Club
- MGM Mirage, Dubai World reach deal to finish City
Center
It
was reported by Associated Press that the Jockey
Club - MGM Mirage, Dubai World Project that started
several years ago as the Jockey Club Alliance CHINA
EXPO2000 Project, will be partually completed by
December this year. The $8.5-billion Las Vegas
Strip finananced by the investment arm of the Dubai
government, will drop a suit against the
company.
The
pact secures MGM Mirage's payment obligations for
construction costs with its Circus Circus Las Vegas
casino and adjacent land. The company said
CityCenter is now on track to fully open by
December.
The
Jockey Club Alliance Group confirmed the report
that Casino operator MGM Mirage, had confired on
April 29th, that it had agreed with partner Dubai
World and the pair's lenders to finish an
$8.5-billion casino complex on the Las Vegas
Strip.
MGM
Mirage Chief Executive Jim Murren said the
extension gave the company "more than enough time"
to come up with a comprehensive plan to fix its
balance sheet. CLICK

Auditors on March 17th 2009 raise doubts about
the casino operator ability to pay off JockeyClub
MGM Loan Default, which had a $1.15-billion 2008
loss.

Auditors raised "substantial doubt" about
MGM Mirage's ability to continue, the largest
casino owner on the Strip said on March 17th 2009,
in a regulatory filing. The company also reported a
$1.15-billion fourth-quarter loss after writing
down properties because of shrinking gambling
revenue.
Casino Operator MGM Mirage who's in charge of the
Jockey Club - Las Vegas City Walk project, won a
two-month bank court reprieve to restructure its
debts.
The
auditors' comments increase the likelihood that MGM
Mirage will seek bankruptcy protection. Banks
granted waivers on the $7-billion bank-loan
facility until May 15. The company said March 3
that it was in talks to avert a potential breach of
covenants.
In exchange for the temporary covenant
waivers, MGM Mirage is prohibited from prepaying or
repurchasing other long-term debt or selling
assets. The company will also repay $300 million of
the fully drawn revolving loan, and it accepted a
100-basis-point increase in the interest rate.
MGM
Mirage, controlled by billionaire Kirk Kerkorian,
can also fund construction of its Las Vegas City
Center - Jockey Club project only if partner Dubai
World also finances its half of the costs, the
company said in the filing. The casino company
reiterated Tuesday that it would finish the project
on schedule.

April
March
24, 2009 Las Vegas -- The Dubai developer building
an $8.6-billion complex on the Las Vegas Strip with
casino company MGM Mirage Inc. is suing MGM Mirage
because it's worried about the project's
viability.
"What
we are attempting to do is complete this
project," Dalton said.
Dalton
said the state-owned company "had no choice" but
to file suit.
"We're
not saying MGM won't be involved," Dalton added.
"We're anxious to work with them, but we need to
see them come out of their financial
problems."
"If
MGM can't manage its bank debt, how is MGM going to
make more equity contributions?" Cohen said.
"Maybe the answer is, well, that gives Dubai
World leverage, and they want to control much more
than half of this joint venture when it's all
over." CLICK

I thought you might be interested in setting up a
meeting with Bob Quicksilver, Chief Content Officer
of TidalTV (a new online video advertising network)
at the event.
As
we approach this year's Upfront, there is a dynamic
shift taking place &endash; prominent marketers are
re-evaluating (and even cutting) their TV media
spending at a time when online video, a
cost-effective and highly-targeted advertising
solution, is taking off. CLICK

In fact, eMarketer

Major marketers are increasingly looking to
incorporate online video in the marketing mix, and
Reckitt-Benckiser just signed a major deal with
Tidal TV. With a zero-waste guarantee,
TidalTV offers advertisers a unique marketing
advantage, allowing them to pay only for ads that
reach target audiences and demographics. The
network will revitalize the online video paradigm
by combining the advantages of TV and digital
advertising to deliver superior targeting,
interactivity, measurement and
transparency.
In addition, you might

The panel will explore the potential of the
combination of the TV, the set-top, the broadband
connection and digital video recorder and how every
player in the entertainment and technology food
chain &endash; from content owner to middleware and
headend operator, to the subscriber service
provider and finally to the CE manufacturer, all
play an equally key role. The idea that consumers
might use a TV, demanding personal and enhanced

into this potential today.

One of the reasons the phones
might not be meeting the posted expectations,
reported the LA Times -- "is that Apple's
preproduction model tests were in situations that
rarely, if ever, reflect the way real people use
the iPhone."
Check out the page on battery performance tests on
Apple's site.
Here's how Apple reports it tested battery life for
surfing the Web over 3G:
Internet over 3G tests were conducted over a
1900MHz 3G network using dedicated web and mail
servers, browsing snapshot versions of 20 popular
web pages, and receiving mail once an hour. All
settings were default except: Call Forwarding was
turned on; the Wi-Fi feature Ask to Join Networks
and Auto-Brightness were turned off. Wi-Fi was
enabled but not associated with a network.
David Sarno points out that "the S in 3GS may stand
for many things on this device -- "sexy," "speed,"
"sweet" -- but it certainly doesn't stand for
"stamina."
This, um, bonus "iDrain" feature of the battery, as
David writes, is proving to be something of an
Achilles' heel for the device. The company's
suggestions on how to preserve battery life
include, in essence, turning off the very features
that make an iPhone an iPhone, including the faster
3G network itself.
Most folks who whip out their iPhones to check
something on the Web don't typically go into
settings to forward calls and shut off
auto-brightness and the Ask to Join Network
features. Nor do they typically have a consistent
signal or dedicated Web and mail server.
The
day the 3GS was released, iFixit.com dismantled the
device and found that its battery offered only a
minimal increase over its predecessor:
Apple promises improved battery life with the 3GS.
The battery is listed as 3.7V and 4.51 Whr. This
comes out to 1219 mAh, compared to 1150 mAh on the
3G. That's only a 6% increase.
David goes into greater detail on why packing
sufficient power in limited space for better
battery life is such a dilemma.
Until that is resolved, I suppose most of us will
just have to keep staking out the nearest outlets
and pull up a piece of carpet to keep connected
while traveling.

110 - Intel,
Nokia Teams Up. Advances the dreams of the WiTEL
Organization.
/ June 24, 2009, Intel
and Nokia team up to create a computer mobile
device to enhance the NBS WiTEL
marketplace.
As
the original 1907 NBS Wireless
Telephone®© Organization join
forces with the WTQCA to speed up the marriage of
the Wireless Telephone®© with
Computers. Troy Cory, the CEO of the NBS
WiTEL®© Organization says he
"has high hopes that his new partners will help
re-define a new WiTEL mobile platform beyond
today's so-called cellphone and laptop with
USB plug-ins.
It
is obvious that as the NBS Wireless
Telephone®© becomes ever more
like computers, by the addition of a "Magic Jack"
plugged into the USB port of a computer, the two
HiTech giants in both communications and computing
have come together to join in the
advancement of the NBS
WiTEL®© evolution, to hasten the
process of developing the effects and elements of
the NBS WiTEL®© first Service
Marked over 100 years ago.
Intel
Corp., the world's largest maker of computer chips,
and Nokia Corp., which has a 40% share of the
Wireless Telephone®© handset
market, say they will work together to create a new
mobile computing platform to validate the
reasons for owning a Wireless
Telephone®© assigned a WiTEL
phone number for easy to use personal
broadcasting," says Troy Cory, CEO of the NBS
Wireless Telephone®©
Organization.
Dan Fost from San
Francisco reported that the companies did not
release many specifics about the deal, other than
to say they hope to develop products "to define a
new mobile platform beyond today's smart phones,
notebooks and netbooks."
"Cellphones
need powerful computers inside," Anand
Chandrasekher, senior vice president and general
manager of Intel's ultra mobility group, said
Tuesday. "It's natural, therefore, that the leaders
in computing and communications come together."
The
move was hailed as a major step for Intel, which
has struggled to cash in on the fast-growing demand
for cellphones. "Everybody who sells chips is keen
to get into the handset market," said Joseph Byrne,
senior analyst with the Linley Group, a
semiconductor research and analysis consultant in
Mountain View. "More than a billion units ship
every year, much more than PCs."
Although
Intel and Nokia did not discuss specific products,
analysts presume they have their sights on creating
a gadget, as opposed to retooling phones now on the
market.
"Whatever
product we see come out of this partnership is
probably not something we can see for one to two
years," said Kevin Burden, practice director for
mobile devices at ABI Research, an analyst firm in
New York. "These are two companies with tremendous
scale, tremendous research and development budgets,
and they have the potential of building something
new, something revolutionary down the road. We
don't know what that is."
Burden
predicts that a new category of machine, known as
smart books or mobile Internet devices, may yet
evolve. Nokia already tried its hand with its N810
Internet tablet, a 5-inch device announced in 2007,
offering a small keyboard and constant cellular
connectivity. Instead, Burden said, inexpensive
laptops known as netbooks took off, and Nokia went
back to the drawing board.
Similarly,
Intel had stalled in earlier efforts aimed at
expanding from personal computers into the
fast-growing field of mobile devices. It sold its
unit that made mobile chips for $600 million in
2006.
The
time was not right earlier, executives for the two
companies said in a conference call in mid-June
2009. "This is the time," said Kai Oistamo, Nokia
executive vice president for devices. "The mobile
and computing industries are coming together."
The
Intel-Nokia alliance would compete with chip makers
Broadcom Corp. of Irvine and Qualcomm Inc. of San
Diego, which are setting their sights on selling
chips for similar devices, Burden said.
Cory
stated that, "what would make the deal really
operational, would be an alliance with the
WiTEL Quality Control Authority, (WTQCA) --
that would help control the WiTEL phone
number assignment around the globe." It was in
1902, when the NBS WiTEL organization, and its
founder, Nathan B. Stubblefield, "first set
their sights on selling wireless telephone numbers
to the users of the early-day NBS WiTEL
devices, including those folks standy in the
historical 1902 photos," -- said Cory. Those
pictured with NBS are: Houston, co-founder of GE,
Nikola Tesla, Collins, the leaders of Westinghouse
and AT&T.

Celebrity
Scene. LAS
VEGAS HILTON CELEBRATES IT'S 40TH ANNIVERSARY
/ By Pete
Allman
The Las Vegas Hilton, which
opened as the International on July 2, 1969 is
celebrating its 40th anniversary with a
special day for employees, special casino
promotions, commemorative gaming chips and a 24/7
happy
hour.
It's been about 10 years since I met William
Barron Hilton, co-chairman of the Hilton
Hotels chain, paternal grandfather
of Paris. For me, The Las Vegas
Hilton has been one of my preferred places for
celebrity interviews, which include my interviews
with Dennis Miller, Nancy Wilson, Wayne Newton, Bob
Parker and late James Brown "The Godfather of
Soul", to name a few.
The resort is celebrating the anniversary with a
salute to the 19 employees who are still working at
the Hilton from the day the property opened as the
International, with a day-long celebration in the
employee dining room with music from 1969, a 1969
costume contest, and raffle prizes.
Two special $5 commemorative gaming chips, one
bearing the likeness of Elvis and the other of
Barbra Streisand (and a picture of the Hilton
marquee from that period on the other) are
available for sale at the casino
cage. The casino is also offering free
40th anniversary t-shirts to players who earn
one reward dollar playing tables or
slots. The front of the t-shirt reads
"Where Were You in '69?"
The Hilton, which transformed itself over the last
five years into a modern resort under the ownership
of Colony Resorts, has a rich Las Vegas
history. The International was designed
to be the world's largest casino hotel at that
time. Barbra Streisand opened the
1,568-room property, but it was Elvis who made the
International an instant Las Vegas
landmark. Elvis debuted at the International
on July 31, 1969, performing 837 consecutive
sold-out shows and performing before 2.5 million
people. His final show was
December 12, 1976.
During several decades, the Hilton (the
International became the Las Vegas Hilton in March
1971) was home to superstar entertainment, major
conventions, a great race and sports book (the
SuperBook), and big boxing events. Then,
for several years, the property
languished. When Colony Resorts
purchased the Hilton in 2004, it committed to a
$100 million transformation of the property,
including bringing back the glory of the legendary
SuperBook and launching a strong entertainment
policy.
Barry Manilow debuted as the Hilton's resident
headliner on February 23, 2005. The superstar
continues to perform in the Hilton Theater through
2009. Other big-name entertainers joined
the Hilton: Michael Bublé made
his Las Vegas debut at the Las Vegas Hilton in
February 2006, followed by Diana Krall in June
2007.
The Hilton became home to Tony Bennett, Johnny
Mathis, Reba McEntire, the Doobie Brothers, Heart,
and Brooks & Dunn. Today, the Las
Vegas Hilton looks to a bright future, welcoming
conventions, casino players and leisure
travelers. Certainly the Hilton name
will remain a bright light to all Las Vegas and the
world.
There are still memorable moments; one of witch was
last month when Julio Iglesias
performed. This was a wonderful moment
when the audience and Iglesias bonded
together. I would be remised if I didn't
mention the Hilton'sTempo Lounge and The
Shimmer Showroom that now features Voices Starring
Earl Turner and Lani Misalucha, Sin City
Heat, and Sin City Bad
Girls. That was one of the great things
about Las Vegas and still remains that way at Las
Vegas Hilton.

by Italian and U.S.

into long-distance phone lines may have provided
funds to expand "freebe" phone calls to Southeast
Asia.
The
group electronically broke into the systems of
international telecommunications companies and sold
the access codes in several countries in a
multimillion-dollar fraud, Italian police and the
FBI alleged in separate
statements.
By
routing conversations from call centers onto the
hacked networks, the suspects stole 12 million
minutes, worth $55 million, from companies
including AT&T, the FBI said. Italian
authorities shut down 10 call centers in various
cities, according to police.
The
raids across Italy last week -- arrested five
suspects linked to a hacking operation in the

charged three people living in the Philippines in

Despite the downturn
in the global mobile consumer market, and the lack
of cooperation between each Telco in the business,
collections of revenue for the use of its service
marks royalties from its major Telco users, has
increased the possibilities of a merger.
Troy
said Wednesday that the organization not only will
survive the slow down, but it will thrive during
the rest of the downturn, offering its new
WiTEL®©
Quality Control Authority, to stem out infringers
of its service marks system during the last several
decades. (http://www.wtqca.com).

During
a recent press conference held in Hollywood,
January 28th, 2009, the CEO said, "NBS
WiTEL®© is still the one of the
oldest wired-wired organizations in the world of
mobile Smart90 VATS web-wireless commerce. He says
the family owned organization still has the trust
in the consumer orientated market place, saying
that, "he desires that all existing Telco
operations in the U.S. -- should want to sell an
honest mobile product, that operates under the
guidance of the FCC, CPU, and a

Authority.
The
CEO of NBS WiTEL®© Co.'s is now
urging lawmakers to revamp the nation's wireless
quality-control system. Nathan B. Stubblefield the
world's first Wireless Telephone®©,

include the transmission of RF broadcasting, and
mobile phone numbers, were taking away in 1914, by

In
violation of U.S. 5th Amendment, "nor shall private
property be taken, for public use, without just

legacy of WiTEL®© assets, occurred
for over 81 years.
It
was announced last year by Troy, the free ride was
over for the AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and
Spring. During the last 6 month, it has lost more
than$500-Million dollars per month in the failure
of the Big Five Telcos to pay for the use of the
service marks still owned, and maintained by NBS

CEO
Troy C. Stubblefield wants wireless quality-control
placed under a new leader in the FTC. He also calls
for new requirements that all Telco companies have
written NBS WiTEL®© quality control
plans, that there be annual federal inspections of
RF high frequency facilities that transmit
high-risk blocking signals and other RF quality
cross-over reforms.
Troy's
endorsement of major changes could boost President
Obama's efforts to overhaul the system.
"We
believe the key is to focus on prevention of
infringing the the service marks not only owed by
the NBS WiTEL®© organization, but by
those companies that improved upon and extended the
original WiTEL®© marks. Many of
mobile improvements, are potential sources that
will prevent the pirated RF signals that might
block and cause contamination of the airwaves.
That's the reason for the NBS WIQC Authority, to
identified and properly addressed those issues
before they become an wireless quality-control
hazard," Troy said in remarks that are being
prepared for Congressional hearings, and WiTEL
Trade Show panel discussions, and pitches.
