After much speculation, and exactly a week after David Letterman announced his plans to retire, the fast-sprung news has settled in that Stephen Colbert, the host, writer and executive producer of "The Colbert Report," will replace Dave Letterman as host of the "Late Show" in 2015. Now that leaves us with the question, what character is going play the host." CBS CEO Les Moonves explained that Cobert would not host the show as blustering character. "What you're going to get is the real Stephen Colbert." "He said it's time to do something different. If he's going to be on our air for 20 years, as we all hope, it's not humanly possible to keep that character going.
•••• We've seen who the real Colbert is from time to time, and it's that guy that would make for a perfectly serviceable late-night talk show host. On the few occasions he's broken with character -- appearing as a guest on other talk shows, for instance -- he seems like a down-to-earth, likable and still very funny man.
•••• He and his Colber Report writing team are so sophisticated in their humor that it literally took years for many viewers to understand that the self-aggrandizing, and often self-contradicting conservative posturing was a joke.
••a• Satire demands a high level of discomfort from its audience and Colbert is a comedian who believes that humor works best when it has something to say. And much of what Stepehen Colbert has said is quite impressive.
•••• Though he like Leno and Letterman, will no doubt deal with politics, he will have to soften his barbs. It is difficult, however, to imagine Colbert giving up radical nuns and fascinating scientists to spend night after night chatting with A listers with movies to tout. More problematic is how, or rather if, his polictical and religious hmuor and general comedic ruthlessness will play on CBS. Let's wait and see, come 1915.

•••• William P. Adrian was born in Hackensack, NJ in 1919 and raised in Syracuse, NY, Bill graduated from Nottingham HS and later attended Syracuse University where he studied Theatre.
•••• In 1946, Bill traveled west to California with dreams of becoming a Hollywood actor. While attending classes at USC, he was asked to pick some girls for a fashion show at USC; he soon discovered that he had a talent and a good eye for the "All-American" look in California's young teens. Bill started the William Adrian Modeling Agency in 1946 with 3 girls and an innovative idea.
•••• Over the course of 60+ Years in the modeling business, Bill Adrian helped guide the early careers of many successful models, and discovered countless cover girls, beauty queens and Rose queens and princesses. The William Adrian Agency is considered the oldest and most successful teen modeling agency in the United States.
