mentoring project,
which targeted Venice High School, has
now expanded to link with America's Promise,
chaired by General Colin Powell. The luncheons and
the HRTS Mentoring Foundation Benefit also enables
the HRTS to sustain scholarships to communications
students at UCLA, USC, Pepperdine and CSUN. The
HRTS also provides cash grants to L.A.'s public
schools through its annual Video in the Classrooms
Awards (VIC).
The
HRTS also sponsors the International Broadcasting
(and Cable) Awards honoring the world's best radio
and television commercials. IBA Co-Chairs are David
Tenzer of CAA and Tom Nunan. More than 50 countries
are represented in the annual race for the Ollie
trophies and Sweepstakes awards. Winners of the
41st IBA, world's best commercials of 2000, will be

HOLLYWOOD
------APRIL
20TH 2004 - Staff members of Television
International Magazine, founded by Sam Donaldson
and Al Preiss, in 1956, attended the HRTS event
honoring Ted Koppel, with two of its editors, Josie
Cory, Mike Lipman, and tvinews.com personalities
Ron Rice, and Troy Cory and 3 HTnews interns,
headed by Kristina Carroll. After a mild scuffle
with HRTS security, as to why so many pretty
news interns were attending the event, the news
staff heard Ted Koppel speak about the many changes
that have taken place in the broadcasting
industry.
