------
Every once in a while you
need a couple of major Disappointments before
you discover what life is all about -- thus the
reason for the television series,
"Disappointment Diaries".
-----
"Hong Kong Triad" - was
filmed and video taped entirely on location in
Las Vegas, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing. This
show dramatically uses selected scenes from the
classic film, "Opium War" -- that depicts China
as a nation that was purposely addicted to opium
by Britain -- to make China a British
colony.
-----
Historical documentary
footage of Troy Cory performing "Tambourine Man"
and "South of the Border" with Las Vegas style
clad Chinese dancers in Shanghai and at the Hong
Kong Jockey Club -- helps one to understand why
China "overprotects" its citizens from the
foreign touch. Troy's rickshaw ride through the
streets of Beijing singing "Sing, Sing, Sing"
with the orchestra Ambros Seelos playing in the
background ascertains how Chinese officials
"bent the rules" - to help make this show
possible.
-----
Two interviews are
highlighted in this program. First, with the
guide who escorted Al Gore to the top of the
Shanghai TV Tower, who thought Gore was
"handsome", and the second was with culture
official, Lui Jikang, Consul General, Feng
Shusen and LA County supervisor Mike Antonovich
at the Hollywood Bowl. -- during the "Hong Kong"
turnover celebration.
-----
Songs: "Sing, Swing,
Sting","Tambourine Man", "Bye Bye Black Bird
Medley", and "Call Me".
